In November 2015, Lauren learned that she has an DIPG inoperable brain tumor. DIPG has approximately 350 cases diagnosed each year, mostly in children. To be dignosed as an adult is extremely rare. Lauren's survival rate with most medical treatment is virtually non-existant. However, from the time of diagnosis, God has given Lauren the verse "I will not die but live and I will proclaim what the Lord has done." Psalm 118:17
Lauren Markel is a wife, mother, and campus minister at Western Michigan University in Kalamazoo, MI. Lauren has been happily married for seven years, has two beautiful daughters, and spends time during the week influencing student leaders at WMU. To know Lauren, is to love her. Her passion for life, and joyful, fun loving spirit is contagious.
We are reaching out to her community and nationwide to support her in an opportunity to seek treatment. Lauren has discovered DNA specific, gene targeted therapy options for this rare condition that have been effective for others and are in the process of becoming proven methods for recovery.
