Plant 5,000 Trees in Peru & Colombia!

The Problem

Trees and forests are the anchors for healthy environments around the world providing the resources that all life needs to thrive. In the past 10,000 years, global tree cover has been cut in half and the consequences to climate stability, soil and food availability, watershed integrity, wildlife, and humanity have been devastating as we all now see every day on the news or in our lives.

What Are We Doing About It?

The best time to plant a tree was yesterday, the second-best time is now.

Planting trees is the most dynamic, adaptive, and affordable solution to the overwhelming climate crisis we face.

We are currently on the ground in South America working with grassroots Indigenous communities in the Andean region of Peru and La Sierra Nevada of Colombia. We are establishing Indigenous Resilience and food and climate sovereignty by aiming to plant 5000 trees and benefit over 1,000 families. This will help foster a new generation of biodiversity rooted in global cooperation and solidarity.

This climate action is not only about saving the earth, but also the humans that inhabit it.

Indigenous Resilience is the act of Indigenous being supported in maintaining climate stability for the masses in their small communities. While only making up 5% of the world population, they protect 80% of our global biodiversity. The earth’s lungs that allow you and I to breathe easier even from far away, are healthy thanks to the indigenous communities that care for the land.

This February we will have planted 515 polylepis trees or "Queuña" a native tree that grows in the high Andean regions of South America in the protected area of Kinsa Cocha and Lares in Peru.

With your support, we can plant up to another 4,500 trees by March 15th. Time is of the essence as the rainy season is coming in Colombia and we will have to wait until August before we can start again.

When is the best time to plant a seed? Yesterday! The second best time? Today :)

We, Seed Evolution, aim to provide free native trees and tools to indigenous communities around the world working on climate resiliency. We aim to create long-term relationships and impact over 1000 families and the world!

We believe in not only imagining a new beautiful world but actively seeding the evolution into the ground by supporting local reforestation projects around the world.

What do we need? By when? Why?

This winter we have the goal of planting 2500 trees in the Sacred Valley of Peru and 2500 trees in the ancient land of La Sierra Nevada in Colombia. We need to meet our goal to make this a reality. This will allow us to cover transportation, trees, tools, and documentation of our project.

How can you support us?

For every $25 you donate we can plant 3 trees and support a family.

Share a dream, intention, or name of a loved one. We will plant a seed of a native tree in a protected land in Peru and Colombia. Indigenous communities will tend for your seeds and you will contribute towards their food and climate security!

It’s a win-win

Indigenous resilience = climate stability.

Thank you,

Further Information

Since ancient times this tree has been essential to protect the headwaters of basins, and ensure the survival of forests and minimize the effects of climate change. The queñual is one of the most cold-resistant trees in the world!

La queñua requires 5% of the water that a eucalyptus uses to thrive, so this plant is very useful for development policies to adapt to climate change.

The importance of queñuales is not only measured in the ability to grow in cold places but also in the ecological functions it fulfills: it regulates the climate, prevents erosion, contributes with nutrients to the improvement of soils, stores large amounts of water, they feed springs and puquios (water holes), etc.

Reforesting native trees is the key to securing natural resources for future generations in this region, contribute towards the climate stability of the world, and indigenous resilience.

*****$7,000 of what we have fundraiser went towards out Seed Evolution Launch Tour 2020*****

One bus, ten cities, two weeks before elections. Pop-up screenings and public art activations from New York to Miami...during a global pandemic!

Seed Evolution was launched after a collective of 5 artivists from around the world decided to get on a 40ft bus and travel down the East Coast to ignite hope and unity within communities.

The  2020 elections were weighing heavy on the hearts of many, so we traveled across the states to provide ease and grace during such crucial times. By using art as our tool to educate, entertain, and engage the people around the issues we all face on the planet, we were able to not only capture the pain and the dreams of these communities but also provide a stage to amplify their voice and vision for a brighter future. Our intention was to inspire and uplift traditionally underrepresented demographics and weave a network of dreamers into a world of possibility.
