See The Elephant is a new Theatre and Dance Company based in the rural town of Placerville, California. We officially launched in 2018 and we have had an amazing year full of Projects from producing new shows to providing performing arts education locally.
For us, this was a huge endeavor to pull off. This area does not have regional theatre or dance companies, and there is practically no infrastructure for it nor accessible/affordable theatre spaces. We have had to build this arts programming from the ground up- literally making something from nothing. And we now know that it can be done here!
The Mission of See The Elephant is to make performance more accessible to our region by providing professional artistic opportunities and building partnerships that foster deeper engagement.
We believe that theatre and dance are relevant when they respond to the immediate needs and desires of the local community. We will engage our community with risk, delight, and attention to provide quality entertainment that speaks to our shared humanity.

Our Company is entering the next stage of development and we need your support to grow the Performing Arts here in El Dorado County and beyond. We have accomplished a lot in our first year and we are eager to keep our momentum. We are choosing to build a professional Performing arts company in a rural place and in all honesty, we know one of our biggest obstacles is the scarcity of funding. This means we are looking for as many ways as we can to get support from those who have enthusiasm for what we do.
In Placerville, there is still a grassroots battle to create a new perception about what the arts represent within a community and how they are a need. No companies run just off ticket sales alone. There is a need for constant financial donations from those who understand that investing in a play or dance means that they will get quality with their experience. We are asking that you help us sustain our company so we can continue to build a stronger Arts Culture here in our hometown where there is very little access to live entertainment. For a rural company every amount makes a huge different. A matter of $1000 can go a long way for us.
Why Placerville?
This is a rural small town with very limited access to the performing arts. It is also rich in culture and history. We want to make work right here, by this community for this community, to help our area thrive and give people who grow up and live here valuable arts experiences.
