<div>Hello!
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div><strong>Please join us in our efforts to raise money for building a new home for the Bachata Academy, a free music school for children in the Dominican Republic. </strong>
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div><strong>ABOUT THE BACHATA ACADEMY</strong>
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div><strong>The Bachata Academy is the only music program in the world to focus on teaching traditional Dominican music. </strong>Our main focus is on <strong>bachata</strong> and <strong>merengue</strong>, which have been recognized by UNESCO as a cultural patrimony of humanity, and have a large global following.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Our school engages children with free, intensive daily instrument, voice, and dance classes.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div><strong>Through music education we empower youth to grow as leaders of their community, and to be global ambassadors of their musical culture. </strong>We partner with leading international arts organizations to spread knowledge of this culture worldwide.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Based in Cabarete, Dominican Republic, the Academy is an independent program of The DREAM Project, a US and Dominican registered foundation that provides holistic educational programs to more than 15,000 at-risk youth in the Dominican Republic.
</div>
<div><br />

<div><br />
</div>
<div><strong>OUR STUDENTS AND TEACHERS</strong>
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div><strong>The Academy has more than 260 students</strong>, aged 6-18, in our intensive music program. Each student receives two or more hours of music classes daily. 50% of our students are girls, and we hope to help women to be better represented in the next generation of bachata.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div><strong>We collaborate with local schools and community organizations</strong>, embedding our faculty as music teachers and coral leaders. We serve more than 300 children between the ages of 3 and 7 with twice weekly choral and musicality classes.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>The Bachata Academy is fortunate to count some of the country's <strong>leading musicians on our faculty</strong>: Mártires de León, Grammy-nominated arranger and groundbreaking bachata guitar instructor, Juan Abel Martinez, the Dominican Republic’s top session percussionist and leading maestro. A group of our advanced students is enrolled in teacher training, building pedagogical capacity for the future.

<div><br />
</div>
<div><strong>COLLABORATIONS</strong>

</div>
<div><strong>Our students are recognized for their excellence, both nationally and internationally.</strong> We have partnered with Berklee College, Jazz at Lincoln Center, Jazzhouse Kids, Bachata World Festival, the Dominican National Conservatory, the Conservatory of Puerto Rico, and other renowned international arts organizations. Academia graduates perform with top Dominican artists locally and in the US.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>The Academy has conducted three US musical exchange tours and is collaborating on a fourth with the US National Endowment for the Arts.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div><strong>The Academy has received some of Latin America’s top musical artists</strong>, including Manuel Turizo and Henry Santos. The Academy collaborates on performances and educational workshops with visiting groups of dancers, including Bachata Popiwa, Carolina Rosa’s Tikita Tour, and Bailamar.
</div>
<div><br />
</div><img alt="" media_type="3" src="https://d2g8igdw686xgo.cloudfront.net/73090269_1685420368703921_r." width="100%" />
<div><br />
</div>
<div><strong>EVOLUTION OVER 10 YEARS</strong>
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>The Academy opened its doors in 2013, and <strong>over 10 years the number of students increased 5-fold</strong>, from 50 in 2013 to more than 260 today.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Over the past decade, the Bachata Academy welcomed in its family other music genres such as:
</div>
<div>- <strong>Kompa</strong>, traditional Haitian music, to foster appreciation of Haitian musical culture and musical friendships between Haitian and Dominican children.
</div>
<div>- <strong>Afro-Cuban, Latin jazz, Salsa, Bolero, Son, and Reggae</strong> to honor the rich musical traditions of Latin America and the Caribbean.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Tha Bachata Academy’s recently launched <strong>dance program</strong> encourages children to further develop their artistic expression.
</div>
<div><br />
</div><img alt="" media_type="3" src="https://d2g8igdw686xgo.cloudfront.net/73090269_1685420438150678_r." width="100%" />
<div><br />
</div>
<div><strong>OUR PROJECT: NEW HOME FOR THE BACHATA ACADEMY </strong>
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>The Academy operates out of a small rented residential building.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Our growth and the diversity of activities is impacted by a <strong>critical lack of space, and poor conditions for classes and rehearsals.</strong>
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div><strong>Our project is to build a new home for the Bachata Academy, so that we can better accommodate our current activities, and continue to grow. </strong>
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>We will build our new facilities on a 1400 square meters lot that we recently acquired a few blocks from our current location. We are planning to build a structure that will accommodate:
</div>
<ul>
<li>12 indoor acoustically treated classrooms,
</li>
<li>a covered outdoor amphitheater for concerts and rehearsals,
</li>
<li>two additional covered outdoor spaces for rehearsals and dance classes,
</li>
<li>admin offices and instrument storage spaces.
</li>
</ul>
<div><br />
</div><img alt="" media_type="3" src="https://d2g8igdw686xgo.cloudfront.net/73090269_1685420519223430_r." width="100%" />
<div><br />
</div>
<div><strong>Our construction will be designed to meet the needs of education, music, and sustainability.</strong> We will emphasize natural ventilation for regulation of temperature and humidity. Our classrooms will further be designed for optimal acoustics, sound separation, and to foster community and group learning. Our building will use solar power to help meet our energy needs. <strong>We hope that our project can serve as a model in the region for sustainable school buildings.</strong>
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>We have impacted thousands of lives with the benefits of music. We’re just getting started!
</div>
<div>We need your help to grow this unique program that will impact many generations to come!
</div>

</div>
<div><strong>NUESTRO PROYECTO: NUEVA SEDE PARA LA ACADEMIA DE BACHATA </strong>
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
</strong>
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
</div>
<ul>
<li>12 aulas interiores con tratamiento acústico.
</li>
</li>
</li>
<li>Oficinas administrativas y almacenes de instrumentos.
</li>
</ul>
<div><br />
</div><img alt="" media_type="3" src="https://d2g8igdw686xgo.cloudfront.net/73090269_1685420970804850_r." width="100%" />
<div><br />
</div>
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
Y apenas estamos empezando.
</div>
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div><strong>¡CONSTRUYAMOS JUNTOS UN NUEVO HOGAR PARA LA ACADEMIA DE BACHATA! </strong>
