2/6 - I want to take the time to thank everyone who has shared and/or donated! I was in tears when I saw that we reached our goal in less than 24 hours... Words cannot describe just how I felt and how amazing it is to see everyone come together for a cause. The overwhelming support from the community proved that not only do people care about the issues we are facing, but we were ready to do something about it! We are done staying silent and this is just the beginning!
As many people suggested, I will be changing the goal to a high limit so that we can keep the page going!

A gofundme account to raise money to provide private security in Chinatown. I’ve partnered up with the security company @goliathprotection to dedicate their time to help with the cause.
The local city officials have failed to protect members of our community and it’s time we take matters into our own hands! Please help by donating to help the elderly be more safe during the upcoming holiday!
Please be mindful that the amount of patrol guards and their schedule will be dependent on the amount of money we raise. We have spoken with the Oakland Chinese Chambers of Commerce, who were not only thrilled by the movement but also commented that it would be ideal to have patrols through out the year. Although that is our end goal, the city could not afford to set out a different budget specifically to protect Oakland Chinatown. In order for this to happen, we will keep our gofundme page up year-round, while posting every update we have so that everyone in the community can keep up with any new information and progress. Any amount of money that exceeds the goal will help with the expansion of security patrol from Chinatown to Oakland Clinton Park market areas and into the month of March and so forth.
We understand that this may not be the answer to the problems we are facing, but we pray that it will help to intimidate and defer the attackers that are targeting the vulnerability of those who reside or work in Chinatown. For now, we want to get the ball rolling as soon as possible as Lunar New Year is around the corner - if we can raise enough, we can get a guard to start patrolling as soon as Monday, 2/8/2020.
