My Family Member Escaped Abuse

This is a campaign to help support & protect a family member and their child who survived and escaped a domestic violence situation.
I am hosting this campaign to raise $35,000 on behalf of my family member to help pay for legal expenses related to escaping the abusive situation and securing the custody and safety of their child.
Since domestic violence is involved in this campaign the security and safety of my family member is paramount. So, I am not going to divulge their identity in any part of this campaign.
What I will share is that my family member is educated (i.e. has a college education), has a good job and excellent prospects for the future, and is committed to break the cycle of abuse and protect their child's future. To do this, they need to ensure strong, consistent legal counsel throughout the entire process of divorce and custody settlement. My family member has a strong legal team that is committed to fight for their safety and that of their child.
But, though my family member has a good job and good advancement prospects, the legal fees are building up faster than they can be paid. So, to keep the legal team in the fight, we are asking for some help from our community.
Though we don't need the entire $35,000 tomorrow, we do have the imminent issue of the current balance of $25,000. This balance needs to be paid to the firm in total within the next few months or so to ensure that the legal team will be able to keep working the case to completion.
There are two parts to this funding campaign:
1. $25,000 for legal fees already incurred.
2. $10,000 retainer to support the remaining legal process.
Also, I want to make note that my family member has insisted that, unless told otherwise by individual contributors, they consider all contributions to this GoFundMe Campaign to be individual loans that will be repaid as soon as they can complete the legal battle and stabilize their situation.
Many of you who will visit this site are family members and close friends or someone who has been encouraged to support by a family member or close friend regarding this situation.
