I'm an Iowa townie, volunteering full-time in Storm Lake. We NEED to secure a Western Iowa hub for long(er) term volunteer involvement- this *IS* the perfect spot for that. We've been knocking on hundreds of doors with the occasional volunteer, but we need to crank up the activity- in a big way.
This is the PERFECT house to serve as a Western Iowa hub for #yanggang. It sleeps 10+, the campaign office is about a 10 second walk, 2 bath, 3 bedroom with 2 bunks (4 beds) 1 master bedroom (with an extra futon) and a second dedicated bedroom. The living room has fold out couches which should sleep 5(?). Big kitchen and dining area. 2 balconies. *SEE PICS*
With a successful GFM campaign, we would be able to secure deposit ($750) + December rent ($750) + $50/person. If this goes well, we'll do a second round for January.
ONE CAVEAT: this is an AirBNB place, so because the landlord is giving us such a great deal- he says if he gets an AirBNB booking we'll need to find a place to go (hotel or volunteer housing or something) while it's being occupied. It's normally $300/night and we'll be in the dead of winter so I don't expect many bookings to come in. Either way, we're the resilient, resourceful and dedicated #yanggang and am confident we'd be able to adjust to keep pushing forward!
