Secure the Future of Springhill Against Hate

Very sad news. We’ve had a serious break-in on Bank holiday Monday 8th May 2023 here at our Springhill Community Centre and Little Wonders children’s nursery in Accrington. Sadly the ones who committed this appalling crime have caused serious substantial damage to the centre and nursery. It has been very upsetting and distressful. The nursery staff are scared and local councillors, Cllr Munsif Dad & Cllr Kimberley Whitehead are horrified by what they’ve seen. So much has been vandalised and destroyed it is beyond belief. Even the police officers are shocked by the damage. The perpetrators smashed their way in through windows at the rear of the premises and then wreaked absolute havoc. What’s really worrying and disturbing is that they’ve graffitied racist antisemitic and nazi images in various parts of the building. One of the perpetrators arrested on-site was carrying a knife. Why are theses youths destroying the very premises that wants to help them? We have buildings insurance but not enough cover for the contents and this will take time. There’s a real urgency to secure the premises and repair the damage immediately to protect against further attacks. The centre simply cannot afford to get this done alone. Accrington is one of the most deprived areas in Britain and with your help we can help transform many lives by restoring this centre to provide education, training, skills, sports and events for everyone in the local community. Overall the damage they’ve caused is horrendous, deliberate and filled with hate. But please, we cannot let hate win. We need your assistance to rebuild and restore this important hub and beacon of light for the local community. Let us get together and show that love and unity are stronger than hate.
