We are fundraising for an event which is classed as one of the most idiotic things you can do, so in essence, had our names all over it.
Team “Second to Naan” consists of Jonney and Ryan, a 7 horsepower three wheeled Tuk Tuk (known as a glorified lawnmower) and 2,500 kilometres of rugged roads through villages, jungles and desert from Kochi in South India to Jaisalmer in North India, all in aid of the Air Ambulance Northern Ireland and Cool Earth.
With no route, no back up, no mechanics for when we break down it’s going to be some ride! You can track our progress on our social media networks and live link to our Garmin GPS to see exactly what we are up too and what madness India has in store for us.
We really appreciate all those that help us reach our goal, remembering that we don’t know if we, or someone we love will ever require the life saving service of the AANI. Please take the time to read a brief synopsis on what you are contributing to.
AIR AMBULANCE NORTHERN IRELAND
Air Ambulance Northern Ireland (AANI) also known as Air Ambulance NI is a registered charity that operates an air medical service dedicated to responding to serious trauma emergencies in Northern Ireland. Historically, Northern Ireland has been the only part of the United Kingdom, and Ireland, without air ambulance provision and several previous attempts to introduce a HEMS service failed, that was, until Dr John Hinds and a team of wonderful people had the HEMS service deployed for the first time on 22nd July 2017.
The charity need to raise circa £2m each year to sustain this life saving service and with your help, we can assist in retaining and advancing this invaluable HEMS in Northern Ireland.
Cool Earth is a UK-based international NGO that protects endangered rainforest in order to combat global warming, protect ecosystems and to provide employment for local indigenous people. Half of the world’s rainforest has been destroyed in the last 40 years. Contrary to the headlines, rainforest continues to be lost at a faster rate than ever.
Cool Earth believes the rainforest can be saved. Cool Earth don’t create reserves or put up fences or buy land. Instead, they put local people back in control of their forest.Local people stand to lose the most from deforestation but the most to gain from its protection. As such, they are the forest’s best possible custodian. All Cool Earth partnerships are community-owned and led – an approach that research is continually proving to be the most effective to rebuilding what we as humans have destroyed.
