Bears 2nd Chance

Some friends and I were on a girl's weekend and getting ready to go float in the creek and this sweet baby (we have named Bear) swam up to us covered in ticks, fleas and burs with a huge collar that was way too tight.  He was skinny, shaking and desperate for our help.  We carried him to the house and looked him over and realized he had been shot and also had a huge wound and he was very weak.  There as not a second thought.  We threw our stuff in the trunk, put Bear on a blanket in the car and three of us immediately drove 2 hours back to STL to take him to VSS for treatment.  Bear as Erlichia (tick born disease) since he was literally covered in ticks (even on his eyelids).  He is anemic and had to have bloodwork, fluids, xrays to see if there was a bullet in him, he received pain meds, antibiotics and stitches.  Once he is healed he will need vaccinations, microchip and to be neutered.  Now - we just need to pay the bills!  As you know - all this is not cheap but it is worth every penny to know Bear will have an amazing life full of hugs, kisses,  a soft, safe place to sleep and a full belly every day!  He is only 6 months old and has been through hell.
