Hello! My name is Sebastian Szirmak and I started this GoFundMe page with the intention of funding the next chapter of my golf career.
Specifically, I am raising funds (1) to prepare for the Mackenzie Tour PGA Tour Canada Qualifying Tournament in Orlando in April 2018 and; (2) to cover expenses for the first leg of the tour in June 2018.
My love for the game of golf began when I was 5 years old. Now, 22 years later, the hunger to improve and compete is at an all-time high. Golf is my passion, drive, chosen career path, and future. With your generous support, I humbly hope to continue my journey this year and move to the next level.
I have played on the Mackenzie Tour PGA Tour Canada since 2013. Along the way, I was able to celebrate some successes and notably improve my game and status. During the last two seasons in particular, I have been able to identify where my challenges lie in both my physical and mental game. More recently, over the past few months I have focused on improving my game with the help of a new coach and regimented golf practice. I am committed to my overall wellness by incorporating structured workouts, healthy eating, and a (NEW) mindfulness practice.
This year, I began offering private golf lessons as a means to support my goals. I have been fortunate enough to find a benefactor to underwrite my entry fee for the PGA Tour Canada Qualifying School (Q-School), taking place April 24-27. While this generous gift definitely brought me closer to my goals, there are still significant expenses outstanding related to preparing for and participating in the tournament. To maximize my chances of success at Q-School, it is crucial to travel to and get settled in Orlando well in advance to acclimatize, practice, and participate in competitive events before the actual tournament. I need to round my game into top shape for the week of April 24 in order to secure status for the 2018 season.
The freedom from financial stress is like having a mulligan in your back pocket. Your financial support means I have more time to practice and prepare for the PGA Tour Canada season. It means I can continue with my regimented practice routine, play in the tournament and qualify for the season without the added financial worry.
