Dearest Prayer Warriors, Family, and Friends:

My name is Carla Lopez and I am creating this GoFundMe page on behalf of my brother’s son, Sebastian Caballero. Understand that your prayer submissions and heartfelt conversations with God are the reason we are able to write this today. From the bottom of our hearts, we offer our most humbling thank you. Your most powerful weapon in prayer scriptures with God is what intervened in my nephew’s life.

Sebastian, affectionately known as “Chaparro” in his house, is a seven-year-old boy who is energetic, persistent, and inquisitive. His favorite food is sopita with the juice. Dare to call his sopita with the juice “chicken juice” and he will not like the taste anymore. Sebastian loves to watch WWE. His favorite wrestler is AJ Styles and Sebastian has grown out his hair just like him.

On the days after welcoming the new year, Sebastian’s heart, unbeknownst to him, was being attacked by the influenza virus. That influenza virus caused a viral heart disease known as myocarditis causing inflammation to his heart and disruption to his heartbeat. Within 24 hours, that influenza virus spread like wildfire through his whole body also causing his lungs to fill with fluid.
Sebastian went into cardiac arrest – twice, but with the grace of God, has been one of the lucky ones to be revived. Critically ill, the only way of surviving was through a machine that would bypass his heart and lungs entirely and deliver oxygen to his brain and body. Sebastian was connected to a machine called ECMO, or extra-corporeal membrane oxygenation, for life support. For several days, Sebastian lay connected to the ECMO machine as it pumped and oxygenated his blood outside the body allowing his heart and lungs to rest and recover.

As you can imagine, this has been quite a shock for my brother and my sister-in-law. Their financial resources are strapped with expenses that are not covered by insurance. ECMO is a very expensive machine and the procedure has already staggered over $75,000 in medical costs. Any generous donation to help alleviate the financial stress is sincerely appreciated. Sebastian’s latest medical update is that he is no longer on the ECMO machine and is breathing on his own! His doctors have advised that he has a challenging road in recovery with various follow-up treatments and therapy.

Ramon, Annel, and Ramoncito Caballero, along with all our family, appreciate your continued prayers during this trying time. Please share Sebastian’s story.
