My father is in his late 90s. He’s been a devoted husband, an incredible dad, and the quiet strength behind our family’s most joyful memories.

Since losing my mother six years ago, he’s lived a quieter life — caring daily for my adult sister who has special needs. He no longer travels like he used to, and though he’s still mobile and full of stories, his knees often ache, and he rarely gets out beyond his garden.

But the spirit is still there — the one that took us on seaside holidays, countryside drives, and memory-making adventures across the UK. I’d love to take him on a series of gentle day trips this summer, returning to some of his favourite places, and visiting new ones he’s always wanted to see.

I’ll be driving him (and often my sister too), with plans for local visits, coastal drives, and a few overnight stays for longer distances. I’ll be quietly documenting this journey through photos and short reflections, under the name Seasons with My Father — to honour the beauty of this season in his life.

Since giving up his allotment during the 2020 lockdowns, my father has poured his care into his garden at home — growing everything from herbs to these impressive, organically-grown pumpkins that have become a quiet symbol of resilience, memory, and joy and reflect the heart behind this project, honouring life’s quieter joys, one season and story at a time.

This fundraiser will help cover petrol, light meals, accessible accommodation, and entry to places of interest. It’s a gift of movement, joy, and memory — one trip at a time.
