Seahaven Wildlife Rescue was set up in 2012 after we found a bird that had been kicked by a young person. The bird had serious injuries, but was still alive. We took the poor bird home, provided him with treatment and care and released him back to the wild after recovering around two months later. It was then we decided that there was a need for a local group to help rescue and care for injured and orphaned wildlife in our area.
Since this humble start, we are now a registered charity with 6 part time volunteers, providing expert and dedicated support 24/7.
Every year we receive over 1000 calls for assistance from members of the public, local authorities, veterinary surgeries and emergency services. Our small hospital facility can no longer meet this demand.
The next step for our continued success is to move in to a dedicated, fully equipped, modern care facility. We desperately need more space to be able to deal with the volume of calls we receive and to provide the very best treatment and rehabilitation we can for our patients.
Unlike humans, there is no NHS for animals. Everything we do relies 100% on donations - we do not take any salaries or expenses in any way and our time (often upwards of 14 hours a day!) is given entirely voluntarily.
Unfortunatly, equipment, rent, utilities, food, vet bills and everything else that goes with running our service does not come cheap.
Your help is is vital in ensuring the future of our charity, without the generosity of our amazing donors we simply cannot do what we do best - Saving the Lives of British Wildlife!
