SE Asia Remote Medical Outreach

Donation protected
Hello friends,

In a few weeks, Leigh and I will be joining a medical team to the jungles of SE Asia.  This is a completely volunteer venture and we are raising our own support.  Leigh is a nurse and I will handle all the trip logistics, and we travel with International Friendship Summit, an NGO that sends medical teams into rural areas where there is no medical care.  This particular area has not had access to medical care for at least 15 years because of civil unrest, but this year a local doctor and a few nurses agreed to relocate to this area, and they have sent out a request for a few American doctors and nurses to help them set up a new medical office, and provide a few medical clinics and seminars to jump start the new project.  Leigh’s job will be to teach the young nurses, help run the clinics, and to conduct a seminar on Hospice care, which is her specialty.  Hospice is a new concept to most of the world, and unfortunately, most people in the world have not been taught basic caregiver skills that can provide comfort and dignity during the last stages of life.   As team leader, I will be making sure all things go smoothly for the medical team, so that those less fortunate than we can receive the best care possible.

We are covering the cost of the flight out of our own savings (approximately $3200) and we will be staying in rural areas and eating local food, so the cost is as low as we can get it.  We are soliciting support for the remaining portion of the trip, primarily the medical portion that will impact the people directly.   The remaining cost is $3500 and is due July 20.

Your contribution will go to a non-governmental, non-religious 501(c)3 and you get to write it off on your taxes!

Here’s SOME of what your contribution will cover:

-free medical exams and medications for people that have not been able to see a doctor in more than a decade, and that have NEVER received Western quality medical care.

-disposable medical supplies that will be purchased in South East Asia such as bandages, gauze, disinfectants, and other supplies that the clinics will need

-basic supplies for the local clinic to do follow up care for an extended period of time

-lodging and transportation

-local translators

-and much more!!

Thank you for your help!
