Justice for Ash

Donation protected
About two years ago, the Kotzebue Fire Department found a puppy in the middle of winter. The firefighters and EMT’s adopted her to get her out of the arctic cold, and to keep her from being euthanized as a stray.

They saved the dog’s  life and named her Ash.

As she grew, Ash came to be loved by almost everyone. Kids would stop by on their bikes to pet her, and adults would visit with treats or bring their own dogs to play with her. Ash was loved by the community, and especially by her people at the KFD.

Ash was killed this week outside the firehouse. She was discovered dead in the morning by one of her people.

We are angry that someone killed our community’s dog, that someone took our fire department’s act of kindness and stamped it out. And we are deeply troubled by the fact that the person who tortured her to death is still out there, free to harm another pet or even a child. We want to see this person punished and taken off the streets.

Any funds raised here are intended as a reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of Ash’s killer.
