Indie Feature Film

Hi! So glad you dropped by!

We're Watershed Films, and we're an indie film company producing a late 1930's action adventure feature film. This is a project we started because we wanted to create something fun, and have fun doing it!

Our path to actively producing a feature film has been full of twists and turns, and longer for some than for others! The three of us started this endeavor by asking ourselves a simple question- if we were never told no, what would we like to do in film? The answer was pretty clear to all of us; produce a feature length fictional narrative! Once we made the decision that was what we were going to do, the next questions became, how? The same way you climb a mountain... prepare yourself for the journey, then start by taking the first step.

We've packed our gear, checked the weather report, planned our route, taken those first steps, and are climbing the mountain we've decided to summit. The story we created is one we are excited to tell and one that we want to bring to life! Each obstacle is turned into a problem solving session where we find a way to make it possible. And this is one of those ways we're making it possible.

Our budget is $150,000 - $170,000. We have raised some funds, and as you can see, we're asking here for help with a portion of the overall budget. Many family and friends have asked how they can contribute a one time donation, and this is the answer to that question!

For those that have found us and don't know us, we're so glad you've read this far! If you're not familiar with our work, check out our short films at www.watershedfilms.com. Treasure State is what we're working on and raising funds for in this campaign. Treasure State tells the story of a young woman in late 1930's Montana who gets pulled into a dying mob's power feud. She ends up on a treasure hunt with the local sheriff in a bid to outwit some power-hungry gangsters, fulfill a dying man's request, and maybe restore some order to the world. Think The Mummy (1999) meets National Treasure meets Public Enemies.

We are so grateful for those who have thrown their support behind us and have encouraged us in this adventure! Storytelling and the art of storytelling is so vital to the wellbeing of people and community, and we're excited to contribute to it in an artistic, meaningful way. The funds we're raising for this movie will be used to hire local cast and crew, pay for local venues, and generally will stay in our local area. We know that exposure and opportunities don't pay the bills, so we are making every effort we can to compensate people for the talents they are using on this film.

Gratefully,

Laura, David, and Rob
