Hi, my name is John Santicerma and I’m fundraising for our good friend Scotty Josephson. As you may know, Scotty has been diagnosed with Plexiform Ameloblastoma. The good news is God answered our prayers and the biopsy is benign. The downside is the type of blastoma he has is really aggressive. Unfortunately it's bad. At this point it has engulfed and grew through a large section of his jaw. To be properly removed, the surgeon will make an incision from his ear to his chin. The incision "should" run below his jawline in the crease of his neck, but that's no guarantee. He will loose a few teeth on the bottom left side of his mouth in order to insert the titanium prosthesis and hardwire it into his existing jaw bone. The blastoma has grown into a nerve located in his jaw canal. This particular nerve controls feeling in his chin and the tip of his tongue. He already lost feeling in those areas, not function , but feeling. The biopsy showed fragments of this nerve in the tissue sample. That's why he’s having consistent pain. When the surgeon harvests the nerve from his calf to insert in his jaw, it needs to be longer than he originally thought. This means a longer duration for nerve regeneration to occur, if at all. He is strong. He will fight. His surgery is scheduled on September 21. The majority of the cost is NOT COVERED by his insurance.
Thank you for all your love and support, and thank you for caring.
