Scott's friends, family and former teammates are creating a lasting legacy in his remembrance that Melrose High School athletes can benefit from for years to come. The funds from this initial GoFundMe campaign will kick off the inaugural "Scott Sciretto Memorial Scholarship" which will set forth to be an annual, permanent scholarship presented to a selected Melrose High School Football player and graduating senior. It is our goal with this campaign and scholarship to make a significant impact on the futures of the young, aspiring student-athletes of Melrose.
Scott Sciretto was a 1990 graduate of Melrose High School. He was a gifted athlete and 2 sport standout - receiving All-State Honors in both Football and Track & Field. Scott represented MHS to the highest standards of the qualities that have become synonymous with the Melrose Athlete: Passion, Hard Work, Dedication, Tenacity, Selflessness and Competitiveness. Away from the field, he was an even better person: Someone who cherished life and held his personal relationships above all else. He was kind and compassionate, a loving son, brother and father and the kind of friend who was always there to support you. It is based on these qualities, along with the feedback from the Melrose High School Head Football and Track Coaches, that the Sciretto Family and trustees of the "Scott Sciretto Memorial Scholarship" will base their decision on the annual recipient.
Our goal is to present the first recipient of the "Scott Sciretto Memorial Scholarship" a portion of the Fund at this upcoming Friends of Melrose Golf Tournament on July 16, 2021. The remainder of the collected monies will go into the Melrose High School Permanent Scholarship Fund for which there is a $10,000 minimum. A portion of the fund will be distributed every year to future recipients. Moving forward the scholarship will be announced and awarded along with the rest of the Melrose High School Scholarships during the "Senior Night" which is held each spring for graduating seniors.
