Our Scotty's in trouble. Despite the achievements of falling in love, planning a wedding and becoming a father, Scotty continues to struggle with drug addiction - serious drug addiction. We all know Scotty's attribute of being a fighter - perhaps to a fault - but his addiction is beating him. He struggles to stay employed, maintain relationships and, most importantly, be a father to his 15 month old son. He's tried repeatedly to kick his drug habit, but continues to fight one relapse after another. He wants to quit, he tries to quit, but all with no success. On this recent last round of use, he told us it seems hopeless to overcome his addiction. We've likely all seen where stories such as Scotty's can end.
Fortunately, Scotty has yet again begun another attempt at sobriety and checked himself into a detox facility and will reside in temporary treatment immediately thereafter. But we want, and need, to help make this attempt at sobriety one that sticks and lasts for the rest of his life. Scotty wants to enter a 90-day rehab retreat and rebuild his life. We're thrilled he's finally reached this decision.
We're telling everyone about Scotty's story not to expose his personal struggles for all to see, but because we know there are many out there who love and care for him and would want to see him succeed as we do. Yes, rehab retreats are expensive and, if you'd like to financially contribute to Scotty's recovery we would, of course, welcome that. But we think what Scotty really needs is the knowledge that many people are interested in his success and are together pulling for him. We'd like for Scotty to not only feel that support, but also feel the accountability that goes with it.
