BAD THINGS CAN HAPPEN TO A GOOD MAN

Scott Baldwin is a good man. He's 65 yrs old. He is a successful father of  five (5) children. He's been a member of Mentor, Discover and Inspire (MDI Inc.) since 2001. Scott has successfully lead teams, and as MDI-Western Regional MTP Manager, was the major contributor to developing MDI's Membership Training Program for new men coming into our organization

In 2001 Scott’s wife left him and the children. He successfully brought all of them through the transition, despite only having one parent around full time. All five of the children are now living independently of Scott. Each child is in a long-term relationship.

Before September 3rd 2017, Scott was gainfully employed as a driver, something he was truly passionate about. Most recently, he was test-driving motorcycles and other experimental vehicles. On that date, Scott was involved in an accident while testing a very powerful three wheel “car”. He broke his tailbone and left kneecap. The broken bones essentially glued him to his bed for several weeks.  The pain from the broken tailbone was so intense, he got a powerful OxyContin prescription.  Because of the pain medication, he did not notice his bladder leaked uncontrollably. His mattress and box spring became soaked.

Since the intense pain made him totally immobile, he developed a major case of pneumonia. At that moment, he finally went to the hospital for the pneumonia.

A mistake was made during the treatment of the extreme pneumonia which resulted in a stroke and other complications. So now Scott is undergoing rehab which will take several more months.

Scott has lost 40 lbs. over the last 3 months. He now weighs 103 pounds on a six-foot-three-inch frame.

The Good News! Scott is a fighter. He has a strong, positive conviction to rehab himself back to health. This is great news for Scott because he dragged a bad attitude about himself and life for some time. Having a new attitude and outlook has really helped Scott heal in many ways.

Scott is not alone in this battle to regain his life. His MDI men, his family, and his friends are fighting with and for him to successfully complete a rehab of at least several months.

Scott spent his money on his children and has none left for himself. Since the accident, he has no finances or resources other than Social Security and Medicare.

On release, he will need, at least, a Queen-sized bed and box spring, a really good mattress pad, sheets, pillows, etc. This purchase will help Scott with his continued recovery after acute care.

He also needs a used laptop as he continues to be in communication and productive while in rehab and beyond.

Other needs may emerge as the rehab moves along. Scott needs your help, prayers, and support.
