Costco cares! Costco is asking employees to help a fellow employee in his time of need. Scott was recently diagnosed with stage 4 Pancreatic cancer. All funds will go towards Scott's medical bills and family needs in this difficult time. Please denote and pass this along to others.
The following is from Scott:
After a week or so of being poked, prodded and scanned inside and out, my wife and I were sitting in the oncologists office hearing the words that no one ever wants to hear. “You have cancer”
On April 23rd I was diagnosed with Carcenoid Syndrome or Pancreatic Neuroendocrine Tumors (PNETs) that have metastasized to my liver. It is stage 4, which means surgery is not an option at this time.
PNETs are very rare slow growing tumors that cause virtually no symptoms until the damage is done, and my only symptom was a once daily facial flushing that started happening about the first of the year.
The oncologist went on to tell us that I have between 2–10 years to live depending on how well I react to the one and only treatment option she gave me, which was a once a month Octreotide shot.
I have since changed Oncologists and am now under the very good care of Dr Cohen at Seattle Cancer Care Alliance. She has a plan A, B, C and D and made me feel hopeful that I can beat this.
I started a 2 month oral chemo treatment on May 25th.
