Scott & Amanda

On Monday, March 26th, Amanda Mayle had a medical event while at the chiropractor. She became nauseous and then unresponsive. After being rushed to the hospital, it was discovered she suffered 5 strokes at some point during her adjustment with the chiropractor. She is currently in the ICU at Chandler Regional Medical Center in Arizona.  She has already regained some movement, feeling, and speech ability, but the amount of time it will take for her to completely recover is unknown, and she's not out of the woods yet.  

Needless to say, Amanda will not be able to return to working full-time for the foreseeable future. And Amanda’s husband Scott is currently between jobs, as he recently moved out of his position at an advertising agency. 

Scott has been a constant force of positivity in my life since we nerdily bonded over Chasing Amy and Kevin Smith’s “Askewniverse” in 1997.  Over the last 20 years, I’ve been grateful to also get to know Amanda, and I feel fortunate to consider her a close friend, too.  Scott and Amanda are two of the most generous, supportive people I’ve ever met.  If you know either of them, you can recall at least ten times they’ve been there for you or someone you know.  They have definitely had my back at times when I couldn’t count on anyone else—myself included. 

I hope that all of us who are lucky enough to be friends of Scott and Amanda can be supportive of them now so that they can focus on healing, and not on the stress of bills piling up.
