Scott Amaral's Medical/Funeral Fund

Donation protected
Scott Amaral is an Islander, you might know him from the Edgartown or West Tisbury transfer station.

Scott was one of the funniest, sweetest, most-sincere Islanders on Martha’s Vineyard. He is usually pretty low key, which is why you might not have known that for the last few months Scott has been battling a life threatening cancer in his lungs. This past week he had  been given one to two months to live but sadly, he passed away this morning,  so time is of the essence and the needs are urgent.

These funds will go to left over medical expenses, unpaid bills and funeral expenses.

Scott has always happily, lived under modest means, not asking anyone for anything, always working two to three jobs to help his family or friends when they needed it. He has an awesome son Ryan, a beautiful daughter daughter, Michelle, his incredible sister Sheryl and his ex-wife, Heidi Amaral who he loved and grandchildren.

He was an avid dog and plant lover! Scott could literally bring a dead plant to life. He always gave practical advice and had an abundance of compassion and understanding for all. Plus he was really funny!

He was so loyal as a friend, brother and even ex-husband! That is the testament to his good nature.

For those of us who know and love him, this is devastating news, we do not want to say “goodbye”. We do what we can though! Scott would agree!

What Scott and his family need now is to cover funeral expenses so that he can be given the best celebration of life service that he deserves.   He never wanted to be a burden to anyone and that is why he rarely , if ever accepted or asked for help. His family needs our help now so that his family is not burdened with these costs and any other expenses he may have had.

We would like to plan a beautiful service to celebrate his life and be able to take care of anything other needs during this time. I find it hard to believe I am writing this gofundme account, because he was  a fixture in our lives, everytime we go to his house all the kids love "Uncle Scott"! I wrote this yesterday because we were told he would have one to two months to live, there is never enough time to say goodbye to someone you love. His passing was totally unexpected this morning.

We loved Scott dearly and if you have not yet ever met him, rest assured, he was one of the nicest people ever, he would give the shirt off his back, when he had nothing. It was not his nature to ask for anything, now its important for us to help his family during this time, for Scott, that is what he would have wanted.

Your donation will offer hope and peace of mind to Scott as he faces the end of his life and comfort to his loved ones.

Donate what you can or simply say a kind word and keep Scott, his family and friends in your thoughts and prayers. Thankyou in advance for your generosity from Scott’s family and friends.
