Scotland Football Fans helping Ukrainians

Sadly, the World Cup Playoff between Scotland and Ukraine has been postponed until June 2022.

Thursday 24th March 2022 should have been a day to enjoy and embrace the big game in Hampden. A festival of football, banter in the Glasgow pubs with opposing fans, enjoying the roller coaster of the match or going to the bar to watch it on big screens with friends, dreaming of qualification for the World Cup, then rejoicing or commiserating after the final whistle.

Now, Ukrainian fans and players won’t be making the trip to the Home of Football in Scotland, instead they are in their homeland, saying goodbye to loved ones and fighting for their country. The thought of a World Cup or even a football match is far from their minds. The scenes unfolding in Europe are truly horrific and heartbreaking.

Therefore, I have decided to set up a gofundme page to help raise funds to support the families fleeing the Ukraine war.

On Thursday 24th March as Scotland and football fans we would have been buying match tickets, programs, pies, pints, Bovril’s, etc.….. and maybe even a carry oot …. so, if you can, please donate some or all of what you would have spent on match day. 100% of the money raised will be donated to Ukrainian Charites via The Tartan Army Sunshine Appeal
