Scotch’s Veterinary Bills
Donation protected
Hey friends.
I’m super torn up about even posting this, but I’m just out of ideas and options.
I’m a veterinary technician, and I’m admittedly WAY invested in the wellbeing of dogs and blindly move forward to save them when I’m able. Unfortunately it seems I also try to help even when I’m not able. The other day the sweetest, kindest one year Australian Shepherd came into my work and needed an expensive surgery to save his life. His owners were unable to afford it, and their only option was humane euthanasia. While this is incredibly normal in my day to day work, that day I just couldn’t watch it. We know I’m a sucker for Aussies. I offered for them to relinquish him to me and I would take over care and get him the surgery he needed. I hospitalized him at an ER overnight (Pacific Northwest Veterinary ER), and did surgery at my work the next day. Despite everyone’s best efforts, the damage was more extensive than expected and the kindest option was to euthanize during surgery.
Unfortunately, we don’t receive our typical employee discount on pets we haven’t owned for a significant amount of time. My bill for the ER and surgery is over $3000 (they were kind and this is already quite discounted). I don’t have that kind of money, and am barley scraping by as is. Admittedly it was a dumb choice for me to do this in the first place, I’m more than well aware. But here we are. Here is where I’m asking for help. I can assure you, I will forever continue supporting patients that come into my care when I can financially. This time I simple overstepped my means. My own dog needed emergency surgery recently, and it’s all added up.
If you feel so inclined, you can donate directly to my bill by calling my work:
