With the generous support of the Ian Potter Cultural Trust, Melbourne based playwright Kat Moritz has landed in New York and ... WE NEED YOUR HELP to get the international premiere of her latest play Scotch and Handsoap off the ground... BUT... we've only got FOUR WEEKS to do it!
ABOUT THE WORK
Scotch and Handsoap is writer Kat Moritz’s response to the world we live in and her attempt to delve deep into the crux of the everyday. Your everyday. Based on a series of audio recordings of random conversations taken in her hometown of Melbourne, this play is a complex composition of voices, relationships, and interactions. We communicate with each other on a daily basis but, are we actually connecting? Really?
WHY SUPPORT US?
♥ we’re a team of young, local and international, emerging female artists making progressive, exciting, thoughtful and necessary work.
♥ all too often we see performance works that are careless or problematic or that just don’t speak to audiences. we want to change this.
♥ we believe that theater and the performing arts are for everyone and want to take theater off its revered pedestal and simplify it. Scotch and Handsoap is an active step toward doing all these things.
♥ part verbatim, part observation, part movement work it’s unlike anything that exists and unlike anything you’ve ever seen.
Scotch and Handsoap has had a showing in Australia but it’s now time to bring it to New York, and further down the track, to the rest of the world!

♥ $600 - a (teeny) artist fee to support our actors.
♥ $400 - venue hire
♥ $150 - rehearsal space
♥ $250 - marketing (concept design, videography, postcards etc.)
♥ $100 - contingency (ie. printing and binding of scripts, the odd prop etc.)
