My name is Scott J. Meade. I am 57 years old and a native of Mt. Snow, Vermont.  Currently, I reside in Shelburne, VT along with my wife, Katie 53 years and my two children; Alex 15 years and Leah 11 years.  For the past 32 years, I have been in the Real Estate industry ie:  builder/contractor, designer and elite handyman while maintaining my Real Estate Brokers license.

In my youth, my passions were ski racing and soccer excelling in both sports.  I became well known and respected for my athletic abilities and achievements over the years.  I was a State Champion as well as a record setting goal scorer.  I also earned a top rank as a National and International downhill ski racer.  Later in life, I earned my 3rd degree black belt.  The tenants of taekwondo (curtesy, integrity, perseverance, self-control and indomitable spirit) are the very foundation we strive to seek as a family…  I coached all three of these sports with the same passion that I played with and helped to produce some top ranked athletes. Eventually I met my wife Katie in Colorado where we began our family. With my new responsibilities I retired from all of my "selfish" passions and began my new life and new passion of loving, providing and caring for my family.

Today/Presently, my sincere passion and purpose is to secure and provide a life, going forward, for my family as I am literally fighting for my own…  I have, humbly, created a “Go Fund Me” Page due to an unexpected and inconceivable diagnosis {Feb 2018} of Lambert Eaton Syndrome which is a rare and degenerative disease.  Ultimately, further testing revealed a rapid discovery and diagnosis of STAGE FOUR “Small Cell Metastatic Carcinoma” detected in my lungs, lymph nodes, abdomen, adrenal glands and ultimately my brain…  My newfound reality as a husband, father and sole provider has taken on new meaning and has been redefined, exponentially as my family must navigate their future journey without me…  My mission, as the sole provider, for my family remains the same: “Devoted and Dedicated to provide, secure, protect, educate and love them, unconditionally, until the day I pass…  My future is fearfully and sadly unpredictable as I persevere through treatment of radiation and chemotherapy.  My commitment, to my family’s future, cannot be compromised or sacrificed due to my untimely diagnosis with unfortunate and complicated prognosis…

Thanksgiving 2017 marked the time I began to feel ill and noticed a decline in physical abilities.  I progressively became weaker and more exhausted.  My legs noticeably became heavy and strained and my balance was off significantly.  My daily routine of positive energy, motivation and perseverance became frustrating and fearful.  I rationalized that my physical issues were due from taking on too many physically demanding and intense projects.  After slowing down and resting for a few weeks, my symptoms and frustration of not healing [getting better} led me to see my Primary Doctor, followed by numerous referrals to several specialists and blood work for 3 months.  During that time, my work and income had suffered due to my inability to perform.   Fear, stress and anxiety took the little strength that I had left…

February 2018, I finally received confirmation and diagnosis, as stated, of a rare and degenerative disease called Lambert Eaton Syndrome.  It only affects 400 US Citizens and does not have a cure.   An underlying cause of LEM is small cell carcinoma.  It is deadly within 1-2 months without pursuing treatment. “Fight or Flight” hit me hard….  I had no chose other than to fight for my life and for my family at any cost!  An Immediate PET scan revealed that I indeed had small cell carcinoma which had metastasized from my lungs to my lymph nodes, abdomen and adrenal glands. A MRI was then scheduled which revealed that the cancer had metastasized to my brain showing 5 separate lesions.

March 8, 2018 was my last session of 9 treatments of brain radiation followed by one week off.  I began chemo therapy on March 14, 2018 and will continue (18 weeks) until June 2018 (3 days of treatment per week with 2 weeks to recover in between sessions.  After 12 weeks, doctors will schedule an MRI which will indicate treatment success or failure…

It is with great respect and gratitude that you consider donating funds on my behalf.  All funds donated will greatly assist my family to successfully navigate financially and ultimately, help secure their future.  By doing so, you will honor my lifelong commitment and promise to my family.   All donations will assist and enable my children to pursue higher education and continue their athletic passions and talents allowing them to embrace their future as respectful, successful “well Adjusted” adults…

Thank you for helping me to “SCORE MY LAST GOAL” for my family!
