2023 2nd Annual Scleroderma Awareness Concert

Greetings, 

My name is Tameka, and I am a Scleroderma Survivor. Scleroderma is a rare disease that affects children and adults. Scleroderma “Sclero” which means hardening of the skin is an illness that occurs because of excessive collagen within the body causing the healthy blood cells to attacks itself. In 2012, my rheumatologist, diagnosed with Systemic Scleroderma in which my lungs are affected, by this disease. My symptoms were, swollen feet and hands, persistent cough for weeks, numbness of my limbs. I was prescribed a substantial amount take the vast quantity of medication my doctor prescribed I started to feel better, but as the years went on, I noticed that some of the medication was causing me to feel drowsy, unbalanced, etc. Therefore, I decided to take control of my well-being and decided to eliminate my medication intake altogether. I have been off medication for 4 years and I feel better than ever. Since then, my pulmonary test results have been nothing but great! The doctors are so amazed about the outcome of my results. 

With all that this illness comes with, I have realized I am here for a purpose. Whether an adult or child I am here to help those who are affected. As I looked back on my journey from 2016-2020. I have changed many lives of our young children and adults by raising awareness, motivating, educating and advocating for those who are battling this rare disease.

The focus of this concert is to raise awareness, empower snd education those who have been affected by this rare disease and to raise money that will go towards finding a cure. The 2nd Annual Scleroderma Awareness concert will be held on Saturday, June 24, 2024 @ Lehman College, 250 West, Bedford Park Blvd, Bronx, NY @6-9pm.  We are asking if you would please be part of this journey in changing the lives of children and adults who are affected by this rare disease by donating. This will help us become one step closer in finding a cure and spread Scletoderma awareness around the world.
