2018 Study Abroad - MCH @ Cody HS

The students of Medicine and Community Health Academy at Cody have the opportunity to experience a whole new world and to investigate relevant public health issues, as well as Costa Rican language and culture.   

Many of the students have never been out of Detroit, and this would be the experience of a lifetime for them.

We were able to take 10 students from our school to Costa Rica last year to study medicine through an outpouring of generous donations, and it was incredible to see the immense amount of growth in the kids.  They came back completely different people - they had much more confidence in themselves,  wider perspectives on life, and hope and determination for their futures. 

It was a beautiful experience that we would like to make available to our students again this year, and your support could make a giant positive impact in their lives.

"This opportunity gave us an experience of a lifetime as well as the chance to work with others in a different country. This was an interactive lesson that allowed us to take our class out of the building and study things first hand instead of out of a textbook or something on the internet. This also gave us a chance to experience things that aren't in our own country for the first time, things such as wildlife and vegetation that is not found in Detroit, Michigan or the chance to hold a non-English conversation. This makes me excited thinking about it, the entire thing, the thought of just being there, learning in a different place. It was amazing."
