Science experiment book for Caribbean kids

Hi,

My name is Raisa and I would like to ask you to help me raise funds to design, print and distribute a science book for children.

I am a scientist originally from the island of Aruba.

I have a PhD in physics/chemistry with a focus on food materials, and I currently live in Australia, where I work as a Food Scientist.

Growing up in the Caribbean, I struggled to find science books aimed at kids on the island, for example, using materials that are easy to find in our backyards (or even supermarkets).

By making an experiment book for kids on the islands, I would like to give the younger generation the science experience I would have liked to have as a kid. The booklet is aimed at childeren on the islands which will be reflected in the materials needed, the storyline, the illustrations and the language etc.

I sincerely hope this initiative will motivate children to pursue a career in a science-related field which is of great importance to the (economic) sustainability of the islands.

I recently printed a pilot version of a science experiment booklet to stimulate more children from the Caribbean islands to get into science-related careers. One hundred kids received this version and the children, parents and community members were extremely excited.

With this fundraiser, you can help me turn this science book into reality and inspire young (future) scientists!

I am currently hoping to raise €5000 (approx 7250 Australian Dollars) which will be enough to kickstart the project and start the printing process. I aim to give the book away for free, starting with children in Aruba between the ages of 7 and 14. The more donation I receive, the more books I will be able to distribute across the Caribbean and perhaps even across the globe!
