Schwabe Family House Fire
Donation protected
On the morning of March 13th, 2019 my dad woke up to the sound of our smoke alarms blaring. Immediately, he grabbed our small dog and ran out through the smoke and heat bellowing from the basement of our home. After a couple hours, the fire was finally put out by the six fire trucks that surrounded my house. We are looking to raise money to replace what insurance will not. Our basement is beyond repair- everything will need to be replaced. As a college student living at home, I had a room in the basement. Everything I had in our home is gone, along with toys, games, and movies for my four younger siblings (aged 17, 10, 9, and 6). My service dog, Buttercup, also lost items in the fire, including her bed and some of our training equipment. Our family dog, Daisy lost her food, bed and toys as well. Smoke and ash have damaged various items on the first floor of our home, and many items will need to be replaced. My dad is a single father and is now displaced from his home for the next several months.
At this point in time, we are waiting for our insurance to tell us what will be replaced. We know that not everything can or will be covered, so we are looking for any assistance with trying to put our home and our family back together.
We are thankful that none of the five kids were at my dad’s house that morning. We are also thankful that my dad was able to get out and call for help before the flames spread to the rest of our home and caused further damage. We are also thankful that our mom is helping out by taking care of us while our dad figures out the next few months.
Any donation is appreciated, and we thank you from the very bottom of our hearts for your support.
