School Supplies for Haiti

Hello my name is Ashanti Lacet,
I am currently a senior at Endicott College about to graduate with my degree in Psychology and Pre-med. I have been through many phases in my life and right now, I feel like I am at my best. As graduation approaches, the pressure of life after college weighs heavier and heavier. Becoming a neurosurgeon was at the top of my list, having the opportunity to save lives drove me to work hard in my first few years of undergrad. As time went by, my perspective of the world began to change.
The thoughts of children being homeless, starving, and receiving an inadequate education began to weigh heavily on me. I realized that I have a passion for helping others and I feel it is my calling to give back in a more impactful way.
In August, I am planning to travel to Haiti and supply 300 kids with school supplies. In order to achieve this goal, I will need a lot of help to cover the school supplies (Bookbags, notebooks, pens, pencils, highlighters, markers, crayons , ect. ) and airfare.
This will be my first volunteerism venture. I plan to travel to other areas where people are marginalized so that I can help those who are less fortunate. Post-college, I would like to do something that I believe is more worthwhile, like social entrepreneurship, rather than just pursuing monetary gains for myself. Life for me after college is not about money but rather how I can help this world in its time of need. With so much hate going on in this world, hopefully I can help spread love to our future.
