Project "Fo Mitambatra" is an annual crowdfund I originally established in 2014 after completing my Peace Corps Service in Madagascar. The model is simple:
1. Collect donations from friends and family in the states, and all around the world
2. Wire transfer funds to amazing Malagasy volunteers in Anjiro, Madagascar
3. Monitor the disbursement of scholarships through verified contracts with administrations of two local private schools.
This year, I am again asking you to donate money via GoFundMe, personal check, or Venmo, to help me reach my fundraising goal of $5,000 to enroll 50 to 100 students (with equal representation of males and females) into local schools in the rural community of Anjiro.
For a bit of perspective, $70 provides 1 full year of school for 1 student in Anjiro. This is roughly equal to: 14 cents a day for a year, 2 dinners in the city, or 1 pair of Nike sneakers.
If you can contribute more or less than $70, that is fantastic as any amount helps. if you can't contribute at all, please consider sharing this campaign in your social media networks.
Throughout the course of the year, I collect students' grades to monitor progress and to ensure they have successfully completed their studies.
This will be the 4th year (time flies!) of fundraising for the students. Last year's fundraiser marked a turning point for Project "Fo Mitambatra" and we hope to keep the amazing momentum going.
Education is one of the most fundamental human rights. Investing in local capacities to provide, and receive, educational services over the long term is one major step in alleviating abject poverty and human suffering.
Offline donations: If you prefer to contribute 100% of your donation to the student, you may do so via an "offline donation", where GoFundMe will not deduct fees. You can send me a personal check (please contact me for my address), or via Venmo (@Clifford-Duong0). Please specify whether you would like to remain anonymous, and your public "Thank you" note will be referred to as "Anonymous Donor".
