School Supplies Drive and Border Talks Workshop

Help the CFO organize, provide school supplies for their children, office supplies for their expanding work, and visit us for a Labor Day event with a solidarity action in Austin!

 

In transnational solidarity since 1999, ATCF has maintained close relationships with our Mexican border partners in the Comité Fronterizo de Obreros y Obreras (CFO). The COVID-19 pandemic and resulting border closings created challenges, but the CFO stepped up to meet their maquiladora workers' immediate pandemic needs. They also expanded union and gender rights organizing in the workplace! 

Recently, these front-line organizers of maquiladora workers asked for our support.

Help us reinvigorate our transnational solidarity with our border partners by donating.  Funds will go to the following projects:

 

SCHOOL SUPPLIES for the children of maquiladora workers! Supplies will be taken to Piedras Negras, MX this August.

 

ORGANIZING SUPPLIES for CFO’s community and labor organizing with maquiladora workers in Piedras Negras, Torreon, and Ciudad Acuña! The CFO will open a new office soon in Torreon. They need technology and office equipment to do so.

 

TRAVEL EXPENSES!  We are excited to announce that CFO organizers plan to visit Austin in September! We need donations to help fund their travel, pay for travel documents such as visas, and cover other necessary expenses. In Austin, the CFO will share their labor organizing strategies and campaigns as well as solidarity actions that we in the U.S. can take!
