School Of Visionaries

Montego Bay, once touted as one of the most sought after locations for tourist and natives alike; has fallen ill to a wave of crime and blight that has permeated the very spirit of this former oasis. A community in crisis; neighborhood parishioners have started to develop a no-tolerance, approach to address disruptive behaviors that has resulted in the ostracizing of a core group of youth still in need of love, hope & the tools to become productive members of society. Stepping up to this crisis is the School Of Visionaries; a fragile but determined school, created to serve the “presumed” hardest to serve amongst us.

Sitting on the cuff of some of the most poverty-stricken areas in Jamaica; are clusters, some within the St. James parish, which typifies the educational divide. Predominantly between the ages of 10-15, the School of Visionaries embodies a previously excluded diaspora of promising youth, whom have made some mistakes but are still committed to the journey. Some are literally coming from as far out as Trelawny to escape the toxic grasps of their surroundings today in hopes of securing a better tomorrow.

Within the hallowed halls of this education facility are many distractions that are out of their control. Despite the sincere desire of their Principal and faculty to serve; the resources and tools are barren at best as they are left with educational remnants leaving them at the margins of their generation and far from integrated into the global commons. With this in mind, the Caribbean Care Collaborative mobilized its efforts for an inaugural mission to the School Of Visionaries and has since, met with various contractors and began to get things started on the ground. Although the revitalization and modification of this school is the pilot project of the Caribbean Care Collaborative;  the founders have a great deal of experience in economic and community development . Please help us to build and develop educational assets accessible to the low-resourced St. James Parish and surrounding area. 

Solution-centered Actions Required:

• Create a safe and secure physical space for students to learn
• Identify parish partners that can leverage resources to maintain and improve physical conditions.
• Identify resource partners to assist in the adoption/restructuring of curriculum which will serve the training needs of this target population
• Identify a resource that will adopt the school to sponsor the meal program; providing regular and nutritious meals and snacks to students and staff.
• Satisfy the fulfillment of an operations model to ensure fiscal integrity

REJUVENATION PROJECT EXECUTION:

Successful project execution will be based on the completion of the aforementioned 9 Sections;
