My name is Ida. I am the founder of  Let Them Help Themselves <a href="http://www.lethemhelpthemselves.org"><a href="http://www.lethemhelpthemselves.org" target="_blank" class="" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">http://www.lethemhelpthemselves.org</a></a>  a community regeneration charity working to alleviate poverty in rural communities in SW Uganda. <img src="https://d2g8igdw686xgo.cloudfront.net/33754534_1546547271807517_r.jpeg" alt="33754534_1546547271807517_r.jpeg" width="100%" media_type="3" /> In the course of my work, I came across Perfect and Princess. They were three years old and their father had died a year and half earlier. I have  had the pleasure of watching them grow into confident teenagers.  <img src="https://d2g8igdw686xgo.cloudfront.net/33754534_1546547034638666_r.jpeg" alt="33754534_1546547034638666_r.jpeg" width="100%" media_type="3" /> They had four older siblings and had no hope of going to school because their mother could not afford to send them.   My friends and I stepped in but by year three, I was on my own and continued to pay the girls' fees. The girls are 12 years now and  in their last year of primary school.   <img src="https://d2g8igdw686xgo.cloudfront.net/33754534_1546546591265239_r.jpeg" alt="33754534_1546546591265239_r.jpeg" width="100%" media_type="3" /> I have  contemplated  ending the sponsorship when the girls finish their primary school because the fees for six years of secondary school  would stretch me financially.   On reflection, this would be a terrible outcome for the girls.  They would leave school without the necessary skills to secure their future. Besides, these girls are academically gifted.
