Help Assan start his Masters in Human Rights law

Assan Sanneh, est un jeune Gambien de 22 ans, récemment lauréat d’un bachelor en droit (LLB) effectué à l’université de Gambie. 

Malgré sa jeunesse, Assan est un jeune homme animé d'un grand sens des responsabilités et de l'initiative. Bien qu'il ait été confronté à de nombreux obstacles de la vie (qui par ailleurs,auraient pu en faire reculer plus d’un), il est allé de l'avant, appuyé par sa force et sa détermination, se donnant les moyens d’atteindre les objectifs qu’il s’est fixé.

Ce sont en outre ces faits qui ont conduit The Bansang Swiss Project  à faire sa connaissance, lorsqu'il nous a contactés en 2018, en nous demandant si nous envisagerions de le soutenir pour couvrir les frais de son diplôme de Bachelor. 

3 ans plus tard, les fruits d’un dur labeur mais émérite s’illustrent par l’obtention de ce diplôme tant désiré, de surcroît avec d’excellentes notes.  Un succès apprécié et source de motivation pour poursuivre son parcours ; il s'est désormais fixé pour objectif de se spécialiser en les droits de l'homme, dans le but de contribuer au développement de son pays et de défendre les droits de ses concitoyens.

Aspirant s'inscrire au cours  LLM/MPhil Droits de l'homme et démocratisation en Afrique, proposé par le Centre des droits de l'homme de l'Université de Pretoria (Afrique du Sud), nous lançons ici un appel, un appel à la solidarité et à l’entraide pour permettre à Assan de poursuivre ses rêves, dont beaucoup pourront en profiter une fois atteints. 

C’est en raison des frais de scolarité élevés que nous vous sollicitons, car c’est ensemble que nous parviendrons à atteindre la somme de 15’750CHF pour couvrir ses frais d'inscription - par la générosité de tout à chacun et unis pour une belle aventure humaine.

En choisissant de soutenir Assan en 2019, nous nous sommes lancés dans le projet qui se matérialise aujourd'hui par la création d'une Bourse Académique visant à soutenir des étudiants exceptionnels dans la réalisation de leurs objectifs par le biais de l'éducation. The Bansang Swiss Project fera don de 1575 CHF à cette Bourse dans le but de soutenir Assan cette année et de rester fidèles à notre mission de soutenir des jeunes gambiens, en particulier ceux de la région de Bansang. Cette campagne sert également à lancer la Bourse Académique, qui sera développée à partir de cette année, afin de soutenir une multitude d'étudiants brillants dans les années à venir.

Aidez-nous à donner à Assan la chance d'atteindre son objectif et faire en sorte qu'il aide à son tour le peuple de la Gambie, grâce à son engagement en faveur des droits de l'homme et la promotion des valeurs démocratiques.

À propos de The Bansang Swiss Project:

Nous sommes une association familiale à but non lucratif (organisme de bienfaisance enregistré en Gambie) soutenant l'éducation des jeunes de la région de Bansang.

Fondée en 2017, The Bansang Swiss Project collecte des fonds pour venir en aide à plus de 2000 étudiants et 6 écoles de la région de Bansang, la région centrale du fleuve Gambie (CRR de la Gambie). Reconnue par le Ministère de l'Éducation de la Gambie, l'association fonctionne en tant que partenaire de développement, en travaillant étroitement avec les directeurs des différentes écoles pour identifier des projets où notre soutien peut améliorer l'expérience scolaire de la jeunesse Gambienne.

The Bansang Swiss Project concentre tous ses efforts pour fournir de meilleures structures aux écoles locales, tant en termes de logement pour enseignants dans un village isolé que de matériel didactique.

Voici une liste de quelques initiatives ou projets que nous avons financé:

- Nous avons financé la construction de logements pour les enseignants du village rural de Njoren.


- Nous avons soutenu les écoles locales en leur fournissant des tableaux blancs, du matériel sportif, du matériel de laboratoire de biologie, de la papeterie et plus encore. Le matériel scolaire et la papeterie ont été achetés localement pour promouvoir et soutenir l'économie locale. 


- Nous avons créé la "Bourse Peter da Costa" qui a financé le don de moulins à grain au Club des Mères de la région , qui utilisera les bénéfices réalisés avec les moulins pour financer la création d'uniformes scolaires pour les enfants dans le besoin. Cette initiative met en œuvre une solution durable pour financer des solutions locales répondant à des défis locaux, tout en responsabilisant la communauté.


- Nous avons financé l'achat de bicyclettes pour les écoliers vivant dans les campagnes reculées qui se voient parcourir des kilomètres pour aller à l'école tous les jours.


- Nous avons entièrement financé  un étudiant de la CRR dans ses études de droit à l'Université de Gambie (Assan Sanneh).


- Nous finançons  depuis 2019 un étudiant en optométrie de la CRR  en vue de l'obtention de son baccalauréat.

Assan Sanneh is a 22 year old Gambian who recently obtained his Bachelor Degree in Law (LLB) from the University of the Gambia.

Assan is a young man who is driven by a strong sense of responsibility and initiative. Despite facing numerous challenges in life, he has pushed forward steadfastly to achieve his goals.

It is his strong determination which led The Bansang Swiss Project to make his acquaintance, when he reached out to us in 2018, asking whether we would consider supporting him in covering the expenses for his Bachelor's Degree. 

3 years later, after having achieved excellent grades and successfully graduating from the program, he has set his goal on specialising in Human Rights Law, in a bid to contribute to the development of his homeland and defend the rights of his fellow citizens.

Hoping to enroll in the LLM/MPhil Human Rights and Democratization in Africa course , offered by the Centre for Human Rights at the University of Pretoria (South Africa), we are here making an appeal to help Assan achieve his goal. Due to the high course fees, we need your help in achieving the goal of CHF15'750 needed to cover his Masters Degree course fees.

By choosing to support Assan in 2019, we embarked on the project which is now materialising in the creation of an Academic Scholarship Fund aimed at supporting outstanding students in achieving their goals through education. The Bansang Swiss Project will be donating CHF 1575 to this fund in a bid to support Assan this year and stay true to our mission of empowering the Gambian youths and particularly those of the Bansang region. This campaign serves also as the launch of the Academic Scholarship Fund , which will be developed from this year onwards, in a bid to support a multitude of brilliant students in years to come.

Please help us in giving Assan the chance to reach his goal and have him help in turn the people of the Gambia, through his commitment in upholding Human Rights and the promotion of democratic values.

About The Bansang Swiss Project:

We are a family run nonprofit association (Charity registered in The Gambia) supporting the education of youths in the region of Bansang (The Gambia).

Founded in 2017, The Bansang Swiss Project raises funds to assist over 2000 students and 6 schools in the Bansang Region, the Central River Region (CRR of the Gambia). Recognised by the Ministry of Education of the Gambia, we operate as development partners, working closely with the headmasters of the different schools to map out projects where our support can improve the learning experience of youths in The Gambia.

The Bansang Swiss Project concentrates all its efforts in providing better structures for the local schools both in terms of teacher housing in a remote village and didactic materials.

To list some of the initiatives or projects we have funded:

• We have funded the construction of living spaces for teachers in the rural village of Njoren.
  
  
• supported the local schools with whiteboards, sports material, biology lab materials, stationery and more; school material and stationery were purchased locally to promote and support the local economy and then deliver them to the schools.
  
  
• created "The Peter da Costa fund" by donating milling machines to the Mother's fund which will use the profit made from the milling proceeds to create school uniforms for children in need. This initiative implements a sustainable solution to fund solutions to local issues on a local level, empowering the community.
  
  
• supported with bicycles for the school children living and having to travel miles to school.
  
  
• fully funded a student from the CRR in his Bachelor of Law studies at the University of the Gambia (Assan Sanneh).
  
  
• been funding a CRR Optometry student to complete his Bachelors degree in Optometry since 2019.
