SCHOLAR Birmingham is 100 Years Old!

SCHOLAR Birmingham has roots back to 1922 when a group of community leaders established the Birmingham Student Loan & Scholarship Fund Association. We only make grants today (no loans), and our mission remains the same: to ease the financial burden of graduating seniors who live in the Birmingham School District. Seniors planning on attending college or a registered trade school can apply online; information is available through their high school counselors. Evaluation criteria include financial need, academic performance, school and community involvement, employment history, and any special considerations highlighted by applicants.

SCHOLAR has granted over $1,000,000 in awards over the last 17 years, and we rely on donations from individuals and groups to sustain our mission.
