We turn community-donated & forgotten laptops into free computers for school kids and others in our community who are on the wrong side of the digital divide.
We work across the towns of Taunton, Wellington and Bridgwater, in Somerset in the UK.
April 2022: We are now providing Ukrainian language laptops to refugees who have arrived in our area. Please help us with donated laptops and financial support to help those arriving here from Ukraine.
Started by Dan Taylor in January 2021, as a community action group during the second UK lockdown, an enthusiastic group of IT technicians and local volunteers rapidly came together from across Taunton, Wellington and Bridgwater, started to rapidly turn old unloved laptops into free computers for families with school kids at home, collecting and delivering them to the families most in need.
Since then, we have gone on to support local adults & not for profit organisations in our community - with free computers - all to help resolve the so-called "digital divide".
By April 2022 our volunteers have refurbished and given away 226 locally-donated laptops, back to the same community!
We are now a Community Interest Company - run by Tim Finch, Carl Molyneux and Brian Tagg, all locals who presently or have professionally worked in the IT sector. - and supported by a small group of dedicated local volunteers to help collect and deliver the computers.
