Bye bye bad cells...Ryan Schlecht

Donation protected
Over the last few weeks, countless people have asked how they could help the Schlecht family. We had no answer for them, except to pray. It seems everyone feels the need to do something, anything. We were hoping to offer those who inquired a channel to give the Schlechts a nurse/caretaker after they welcome their newest arrival (three kids under 2 1/2!).

Colleen and Dave welcomed twin boys Ryan and Crosby into this world two years ago, after many weeks of Colleen being on bedrest. Unlike many, they weren't able to go home right away. The boys were premature and spent many weeks in the hospital. We remember being so impressed by Dave and Colleen. They were pros from the start, learning things and doing things, no parent should have to know or do. In a very scary and sad setting their outlook remained positive.  Their dedication and love for their boys was inspiring.

Once again, Colleen and Dave have been asked to face things no parent should have to face. Sweet little Ryan has been diagnosed with B Cell ALL (leukemia). His prognosis is good. We know he will get through this and go back to being the healthy, active, happy boy he was before. The road ahead, however, will not be easy. It has already proven to be grueling. His treatments are hard. The side effects are painful to watch. And the change in his personality, from a happy, active boy, to one who is tired and in pain, is very diffcult to witness. Colleen and Dave have once again had to acclimate, be strong and face challenges that are overwhelming.

The Schlechts are expecting a new baby any day. Three kids under two and a half is a challenge in any situation. Three kids, in these circumstances, is daunting. Colleen and Dave have asked for nothing except prayers and visitors. They have no family nearby and face challenges on a daily basis.

We would like to begin a collection, so they can hire a nurse/caretaker to help when no family or friends can be there. They have not asked for this. They don't even know this has been started for them.  We know, though, that being able to provide them with a professional will give them small doses of peace- and at this time, that is a wonderful gift.

If you were thinking about sending something or wanted to help, here is one way. We know many people are already helping and their family is so grateful for everyone's efforts.   Colleen and Dave have felt the support, and it means so much.
