Scheuermann Emergency Fund

Our dear friends, Scott and Lise Scheuermann, are two of the sweetest people that you will ever know.  Much in love after many years of marriage, they have spent their life giving to others without ever asking for anything in return.

On July 24, 2017, they were involved in a high-speed collision in Pennsylvania. They were 500 feet from a rest area exit to change drivers when a truck dropped part of it's load. As a result the car in front of them stopped suddenly and they hit that car.

While their children, Steven and Sara, (ages 15 and 12) were able to walk away with only minor scrapes and bruises, Scott and Lise were not so fortunate.  Scott suffered a broken neck and an unsecured spinal cord. With eight hours of surgery and much prayer, he is doing remarkably well.

Lise is STILL in the hospital and has had surgeries to repair a shattered left femur (leg) and a shattered right wrist.  She is now out of ICU and ready for discharge. The early prognosis is that she will be in rehab for months as her left leg cannot yet bear weight.

Lise is in the Penn State Hershey Medical Center in Hershey PA, 863 miles from her home and family. Insurance will only cover to move her to the closest rehab center. This is way too far for her family to ever visit her especially since Scott cannot currenty drive.

We are asking for you to help Lise and Scott with transporting her closer to their home for rehab and with a portion of their medical bills not covered by insurance. Having worked in the field of education and with small churches for years, this family does not have the means to shoulder these tremendous expenses.

None of this transport expense will be covered by insurance. Moving Lise to a Medical Facility in Iowa by medical flight will cost $10,400,  As an alternative they are looking into the possibility of moving her to her old home town of Avon, Ohio where she would have the support of other family and many friends. The quote for that move is $5,595. A dear friend with many contacts in the Avon Fire Department and EMS is looking into pulling some strings to lessen this cost.  Added to this, their faithful and trusty 10-year-old family car has likely sacrificed itself to keep the Scheuermanns alive (see picture). It will likely be months before Lise, the primary bread earner can return to work.  If you can, please help this family in whatever way you can. Thank you!!!

The Scheuermans have a large community of family and friends and this account gives you an avenue to bless them and help them through this very rough time in their lives.

Thanks,
