Give children in Uganda a future

Who will benefit from the fundrising campaign?

Helpless children and poor families in Uganda.

The “Revival Home St. Francis” in Uganda is a rescue center located in the village called Kyato in the middle of the rural area within the Kalungu District - 60 km away from the nearest town of Masaka. This home is run by locals and takes in half-orphans, orphans and children from families in need who would have little chance of survival without this help. At the Revival Home the children receive medical care, love and can be happy again. For many of them the future begins here. After their first years of life, the children are integrated into supervised foster families and enrolled in school. In addition to the rescue center and home, the Revival Home also acts as a contact point for weak and sick people seeking advice and, above all, pregnant women. A special mother-child program enables pregnant women to receive medical care and to be transported to a hospital for childbirth. The Revival Home thus fights causes, because most of the children living here, the mother died directly at giving birth.

The homepage of the projekt is here (but just in german) >>> here

What is the problem?

The Revival Home is run by locals but has so far been completely financed by donations from Germany. This is achieved through the acquisition of sponsors and grants, donations, and sponsorship money. The association “Uganda Lebenshaus Projekthilfe e.V.” was founded especially for this purpose. Our dream is that one day the project will be able to support itself and be independent of German donations. Keyword: Help for independence. There is still a long way to go, but without self-financing the project will depend on donations for ever. That brings disadvantages and existential problems with it. Because if the donations should one day decrease, the financing collapses and the project has to be stopped. In addition, we are so busy covering running costs (salaries, food, medical care, school fees, etc.) that we cannot expand our work on site - but the need for it would be there. If the running costs were covered by self-financing, the Revival Home would be independent of German donations in the future and could use these money for further projects for the people in the area.

What is the solution?

With special donations, we have already been able to acquire a plot of land in the city of Masaka and obtain a building permit. There are now 4 apartment blocks with rental apartments to be built - the "Revival Future Homes". With these apartments, living space is to be offered for a fair rental price and the running costs of the Revival Home are to be covered with the rental income. This would guarantee self-financing on site, take a big step towards independence, and secure the future for the home and thus for many children in Uganda.

What is GoFundMe used for?

The first apartment block is to be financed with € 90,000 as a pilot project via crowed funding. The remaining blocks of flats will then be realized with subsidies.
(Total costs for the Revival Future Homes: € 400,000)

GoFundMe goal: € 85,000
Prices and fees of GoFundMe: Transaction fees 2.9% plus € 0.25 per donation >>> more information here

The Uganda-Lebenshaus-Projekthilfe e.V. association pays the the fees and 5.000 € from its own funds.

What happens when there is not enough money?

If the money is not enough for the first apartment block, it will still benefit the Revival Home in Uganda. For example, the mother-child program for the care of pregnant women could continue to be funded, because the special funding for it will expire in 2021.

What if there is too much money?

Every cent that comes too much is invested directly in the second apartment block.

Thank you on behalf of everyone involved for any support! Every donation for this project will not only help once, but will have an impact on the future of many children!

Yours Raphael from Uganda-Lebenshaus-Projekthilfe e.V.
