<div>Our mom was diagnosed with Leiomyosarcoma (LMS) in 2021. It started in her inferior vena cava which was resected and she also had an adrenal gland removed at the time. She was in and out of the hospital a few times and was also dealing with blood clots in her legs and lungs.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>It next spread to her left lung which required lung surgery at MSK in NY in 2024. After learning that it had next metastasized to both lungs - stage 4 she started chemotherapy infusions in NY for 15+ months. The discovery of the LMS spreading to the bone in her shoulder then required radiation. New tumors are showing up other places and she was accepted into a trial at MSK in April. Since it is a trial through MSK, the infusions and all tests and treatment must be at MSK every 3 weeks. Most things are outpatient and often are more than one day which require hotels, etc. Unfortunately insurance does not help with any of these expenses and they add up tremendously after 5 years.

<div>The ACS has a “Hope Lodge” but we have always been on a waiting list as patients travel throughout the country for treatment at MSK, and there is always someone more in need.
</div>

<div>My sister and I are doing this Gofundme to help with travel (hotels, parking, gas, tolls, taxis and uncovered medical expenses) and the MANY co pays and travel to NYC every 3 weeks is very expensive and all consuming.
</div>
