Mike's Bariatric Surgery Fund

UPDATE:  I am tentatively scheduled to have the procedure done on Oct 10 2017.  So close to reaching the goal so that I can cover all costs to the hospital and doctor and get a little stock on the liquid diet items I will need as well as the supplements.

So where to begin...

I am morbidly obese according to my diabetes doctor.  I have been for years and my blood sugars until the last 2 months have averaged 300-350.  I also had a quadruple heart bypass in June 2006 at the young age of 36.  My endocrinologist tells me that Bariatric surgery at this point is the only thing that will save my life or at least prolong it.  I have been working on getting everything done to make this surgery happen through the Bariatric team in Decatur, Texas.  I have run into a MAJOR roadblock in that it seems what was going to be $600 plus supplements and protein powders has now become closer to $2500 total and most of that is for the part medicare does not pay and the hospital and doctor need up front. and the tentative surgery will hopefully be June or July depending on when I get the funds needed to move forward as well as satisfying Medicare's supervised diet requirements which I have had to do again because they did not accept the first round.

This brings me here to plead with my friends and family for assistance.  If every person on my Facebook friends list could afford to help with just $5 it would hit half my goal which would be a Godsend.  I understand it is close to the holidays and that money is tight for everyone but I am trying anyway.  I have tried fad diets, I have worked with my doctor and the unfortunate truth is I am weak and I need as he put it "Drastic Measures."
