Scarborough College pavilion
Tax deductible
On the evening of Sunday 15 September, a fire destroyed the historical cricket and rugby pavilion, which had stood since 1911.
In 1911, the pavilion cost £155 to build, of which £90 had been raised by the school and the Old Boys. The scoreboard and score box were added in 1962. Extensions featuring changing rooms and electricity were added in 1982.
Following the 1982 refurbishment, the pavilion was named the Waid Wood Pavilion, after the then chairman of governors and Old Boy. Mr Wood was commemorated on a plaque that had been placed on a bench in front of the building.
Four trees were planted in February 1992 by the friends and family of Rebecca Crossley who had died in accident at Wykeham. Rebecca had been a pupil at Scarborough College and Lisvane.
All at Scarborough College and beyond were deeply saddened by the loss of the pavilion but we have also been amazed by the number of people who have called in, emailed and dropped by to share their memories, their support and their time.
It is following these messages and following this support, that we have decided to set up a crowdfunding page. As the Headmaster has already promised, we will rebuild. The money we raise via this page will be used to rebuild a pavilion that remembers its history and celebrates its future.
Thank you for your contribution!
