They say you have to spend money to make money, and I've definitely got the first step down, but that second half - the "make money" part - is still on my list of things to do.

And I'm actually okay with that.

Would it be great to make money from my writing? Yes. Obviously yes, but if I have proven anything (both to the world and myself) over the past few years (all my years), it's that making money is not why I do what I do. If it was, I would have stopped writing long ago. But here I am. Over $7000 poorer than I was at the beginning of 2020, stuck here in socially distant isolation, scheming and dreaming about going even deeper into debt.

TL, DR: I need your help fund a proper cast recording and/or another theatrical run.

My show, Scandusical, is a musical parody of the TV show, Scandal. It's something I've been building since 2013 and it's good. I know I'm biased and not the most impartial judge, but as my granny used to say, "It's a po' dog that don't wag it's own tail." My show is good. So good. Really good. And I have gone broke, am broke and will go broke to prove it. Because as much as I'd love to be rich someday, more than anything, now and forever, I want to be generous.

So when I look at Scandusical, I see opportunities for other artists - to act, sing, direct, choreograph, music direct, costume, etcetera, etcetera, etcetera, to have a good experience doing what they love in a good show, with good people AND to get paid.

And full disclosure: thus far, the pay for Scandusical has not been much. Nowhere near what any of the actors deserve, but it's something. It's a start. And it's way more than I've made on this show. And that's okay.

This gofundme is not to pay me, it's to get me as close to zero as possible as we move forward.

Our most recent run, like pretty much everything else in the world, was interrupted by the Coronavirus. And in a perfect world, once we move past the pandemic and life has returned to normal, we would just pick up where we left off and finish what we started, but the chances of everyone still being available and remembering everything, are slim. So we would be looking at another rehearsal process, which would have me looking at another set of costs.

So that's what this fund is for. I've set it at $10,000 which is a sort of midway point between our two options for moving forward.

If this raises less than $10K, I'll use it to fund an album. To pay for studio time, to pay the artists (singers, musicians, etc) and create a high-quality capture of the sound of this show.

If this raises more than $10K, I can look at funding another rehearsal process, booking theatre space and putting this thing up again. Bigger, better, faster.

Option 3: WHY NOT BOTH!?
All things are possible, so if this somehow goes over 20K, we'll do it all!

So that's what's happening here. And listen, times is tough and life is crazy right now, so I am fully aware that there are literally thousands of other things you could be giving your time, attention and money to. So if you read this far, God bless you for that and thank you for even considering this ask. Seriously.

And if you do decide to jump in and become part of this journey, please know that it will be appreciated beyond words, so much more than I can I say. And will reverberate in more ways than you know.
