Dear Village,
I need your help! On November 16, 2019 it became necessary for me to take custody of my sister's two little 5 year old twin girls, Sydney & Sierra. A family member needed to agree to take them, to keep The State from placing them in Foster Care. It is a heartfelt labor of love and these little girls deserve my help. I am jumping through hoops for DCF and doing my very best to maintain a stable, safe, loving, clean home for them. However, I find myself in need of support from the "Village" it takes to provide for these sweet girls. I am now the sole provider for them, as their father is in jail and their mother is not contributing in any way. I have applied for "Care Giver" funds from the state but as of yet those funds are non-existent. I am falling behind in my own bills because I have not been able to work as often now because of my new and sometimes overwhelming responsibilities. I FINALLY have an "approved" babysitter (which is required by DCF for anyone who helps babysit), so I am able to go to work as usual. Once I get caught up on the bills, I should be able to maintain this new life. Being the mommy of 3 instead of 1 requires so much more than I could have imagined when I agreed to assume this responsibility. When I feel like giving up, I look at their trusting faces and I know I must keep trying to do what's best for them. While I'm embarrassed to be asking for your help, I know it's better than giving up. My extended family is large, kind and generous, they have been helpful many times to these girls and to their parents in the past and I'm counting on all of you (and any friends too) to open your hearts once again for them.
