Alan tragically passed away in a work related accident on 23rd November 2017.
Last year, to celebrate his first birthday away from home we honored his memory by organising a fundraiser walk/run in Emo court which was one of our favourite places to go as a family.
I set out with a goal of E800 and we managed to raise an incredible E7500 from generous donations online, collections on the day, local clubs and fundraising in Gaelscoil Phortlaoise.
The walk will take place again this year on Sunday 13th October at 12pm from Emo football field. I will donate all monies raised to RAINBOWS IRELAND which is a national support service for children experiencing grief and loss. They support children to adapt and integrate change and loss into their lives and rebuild self esteem, confidence and resilience. RAINBOWS is a registered charity funded by the Family Support Agency and is a free service provided to children and young people. Approximately 15000 children and young people access the service each year. Any donations to this cause would be greatly appreciated.
