Our team of concerned parents are asking for your support in getting P.A.C.E. Scholarships ratified into legislation so we can Provide Academic Choice in Education for South Carolina families. Please visit our website at PaceSC.info to see details of our bill and how you can join our grassroots movement.
The bill is founded by a group of parents dedicated to creating the best and most inclusive school choice bill there can be. Countless hours and revisions were made to ensure the bill covers all angles on what is best for the children (both those who choose not to apply for a Scholarship and remain in public school as well as those who get a scholarship and transfer to a different mode of education). Basically, how it works is any k-12 public school student is eligible to apply for a P.A.C.E. scholarship that will fund the tuition for a private school or fees associated with homeschooling if those styles of education is what they choose to change to.
In our research to find the best form of school choice we found private scholarships to be far superior to other options such as "Vouchers" "Tax Credits" or "Education Savings Accounts (ESA)". We also made sure our scholarships are not limited to only special needs children or poverty level households.... P.A.C.E. believes all children currently in public school should have a choice in education. Since P.A.C.E. Scholarships will be privately funded, the program will not have any negative effect on public education and is not likely to be delayed by lawsuits like other forms of school choice. Much like college scholarships, this K-12 scholarship simply takes away the financial barrier for families when making the decision of the best source of education for their child.
The P.A.C.E. bill H0903 is currently in the South Carolina state senate and our team expects to have a bill number for the state house of representatives on January 11, 2022. The majority of the help we need from the public is on the grassroots side (writing letters, sending emails, and calling your representatives to request their support of the P.A.C.E. bill). On a smaller scale, we could use help financially as well. So far we have been blessed to have many people donate their skills, resources and time for necessities such as website building, conference offices, and legal services but our small team of parents doing all the "leg-work" have been paying all costs associated with getting the P.A.C.E. bill into legislation out of our own pockets. Costs include graphic design, media marketing, mail postage, flyers, gas back and forth from Charleston to Columbia, etc. No donation is too big or too small... this team of mama's can stretch a $10 donation a long way! Above all else, please send prayers for the blessing on the people, process, and perseverance of P.A.C.E. I, personally, pray that no more generations of South Carolina kids will be denied the CHOICE of K-12 education that best fits their learning needs because of financial barriers.
